BROOKHAVEN MARKETPLACE SUPPLEMENTS ITS KIOSKS WITH FACE-2-FACE ORDERING
Independent retailer looking for ways to continue optimizing shopping experience

Hoffman Estates, Ill. (November 1, 2011) – ADUSA, Inc. today said that it had deployed its S4G™ Mobile Fresh Foods Kiosk (MFFK) for face-2-face order-taking at Brookhaven Marketplace in Mokena, Ill. “Our face-2-face order-taking application is supplemental to our kiosks and is a good fit for retailers like Brookhaven Marketplace that are looking to provide their customers with yet another channel for placing orders with their fresh foods departments,” said Juan C. Perez, president of ADUSA, Inc.

Like all ADUSA systems, MFFK is web based and can be deployed on a diverse set of hardware platforms. The system was deployed at Brookhaven on an iPad using the Safari browser. The associate taking orders from customers on the iPad is also equipped with a wireless, belt-mounted, micro thermal printer from ADUSA partner, Zebra Technologies. The Zebra printer produces the order ticket which the associate then hands to the customer. With their deli order being prepared, the customer can continue shopping and return to pick up the finished order in the same location where completed kiosk orders are staged.

According to John Peter Bertakis, general manager at Brookhaven Marketplace, “The kiosk at our test store in Mokena has been really well received by our customers, so we decided to try to build on that and install face-2-face order-taking, as well. The way the system works enables us to be proactive and ultimately provide our customers with better service. For example, while many customers are now placing orders on the kiosk, we still have times where long lines develop at the deli. When that happens, we can now send an associate out with the iPad and effectively do some line busting to help shrink the line back down and enable customers to get back to shopping the rest of the store.”
