ADUSA DELI KIOSKS UNDERGO SECURITY ASSESSMENT
Comprehensive Analysis and Remediation Ensure Secure Environment
Lombard, Ill. (August 11, 2008) – ADUSA, Inc. today announced it had recently
concluded a joint effort to make its deli kiosks completely secure and hacker-proof. “Data
security has become a very important issue for our supermarket clients. We recognize that,
as customer facing technology, deli kiosks could be vulnerable to hackers with malicious
intent. Because of this, we decided to undertake efforts to ensure that our kiosks are
completely locked down, and are not, in any way, a security concern for the retailers that
use them,” said Juan C. Perez, president of ADUSA, Inc.
ADUSA worked through one of its supermarket clients, which engaged a leading global
technology company, to conduct the security assessment of its deli kiosks. The analysis
involved conducting a series of tests in a way that replicates techniques used today by those
who would attack such devices and attempt to subvert existing security controls. These
tests were performed from the perspective of both an attacker with physical access to the
device as well as someone attacking the device, remotely, over the existing network.
Added Perez, “Unfortunately, this is something that all providers of customer facing
technologies have to be concerned with nowadays. Now that the assessment has been
completed and we have resolved the potential trouble areas that were identified, our clients
can rest assured that their deli kiosks are safe and not vulnerable to hackers.”
