ADUSA, Inc. Introduces New Version Of Its Self-Service Software For Supermarkets
Company adds new features to its industry-leading deli, sandwich and party tray self-ordering modules; adds new modules for bakery self-ordering and recipe recommendations

by Juan Perez, president and chief technology officer, Adusa, Inc.

Lombard, IL, May 8, 2006
– ADUSA, Inc. today announced the latest version of its S4G self-service software for grocery supermarkets. The new version adds two new modules - bakery self-ordering and recipe recommendations, and also adds new features to the existing deli, sandwich and party tray self-ordering modules.

“This is an important software release that comes at a pivotal point in self-service efforts within many supermarkets” said Juan C. Perez, president of ADUSA, Inc. “We have added modules for bakery self-ordering and recipe, or meal solution, recommendations. Now retailers can combine these with our existing deli/sandwich and party tray self-ordering modules to effectively deploy a solution consisting of the most popular and highest-return self-service applications.”

Efforts to deploy self-service solutions in grocery supermarkets have shown that self-ordering at the deli and bakery, as well as recipe recommendations, are among the most popular applications with customers. These are also the applications that have the most potential to provide a solid return to the retailer by effectively increasing sales in the deli, bakery and throughout the entire store.

Starting out with a compelling grouping of popular high-return self-service applications enables the retailer to launch an effective initiative that generates customer interest and builds momentum. Added Perez, “Having established the self-service initiative on a solid base, the retailer can then gage ongoing customer sentiment and, if appropriate, add lower return informational applications such as product locator, wine information, etc. It is important that retailers deploy all the self-service features that customers want, but we think this should be done in a well-planned, cost-effective manner. Continued Perez, “Sometimes we will see a grocery retailer deploy a coupon-printing kiosk one month, a separate recipe kiosk the next month, a third kiosk for health information a few months after that, and so on. That approach is very costly and can be really confusing for customers. Another inefficient approach is to deploy a large number of kiosks, with a large number of applications on each, all at once. This approach seeks to cover all bases, but it is also very costly for the retailer. Customers will only regularly use a small number of these applications, yet the retailer is forced to support the hardware, software, integration, and content for all of them.”

In addition to adding modules for bakery self-ordering and recipe recommendations, as well as defining the concept of application groupings, the new version also contains new features such as the ability to search for and order deli items by dietary needs (i.e. gluten-free, casein-free, heart-healthy, low-carb, etc.). Furthermore, the release contains bug fixes and improvements, such as automating the process of opening and closing the deli kiosk based on the deli’s hours of business, and making the interface with the scale management system completely seamless. Said Perez, “This is already a very robust and mature application that has been continually improved on a regular basis. With the new modules and additional features in this version we really feel that the S4G suite is now in a class by itself.”

The new version of S4G will be available in July 2006. Parties interested in receiving more information should contact ADUSA’s vice president of sales – Barbara Ferrara at 440-846-6868.
