Price Chopper to Deploy ADUSA/IBM Self-Service Kiosks in Stores
by Juan Perez, president and chief technology officer, Adusa, Inc.
Schenectady, NY, August 11, 2003 – Price Chopper today announced that they will deploy the RiteOrder™ self-service kiosk suite from Adusa, Inc. in its stores. RiteOrder™ is a comprehensive suite of integrated self-service applications that includes deli ordering, wine, beer & spirits information, and product locator. Price Chopper also announced that it has selected kiosk hardware from IBM.
Price Chopper went through an extensive evaluation process before deciding on the ADUSA RiteOrder™ system. According to Mona Golub, Manager of Public Relations and Consumer Services for Price Chopper, “ADUSA’s solution exhibited superior architecture and functionality. ADUSA’s team is proactive and responsive, and we believe that they share our vision to create dynamic self-service opportunities for supermarket consumers.“
“We are excited about working with Price Chopper, and, once again, with our partners at IBM. This is the most recent of several deals that has our software running on the IBM kiosk, and our retail clients are starting to realize the benefits of this powerful combination,” said Eric Ginn, CEO of Adusa.
Self-service is a growing trend in many supermarkets. The ADUSA solution offers functionality that enhances the shopping experience for the consumer, and helps the retailer increase sales. Added Golub, “Self-service kiosks afford our customers additional convenience, access to more information, and more customized control of their shopping experience.”
Further details of the agreement were not given, but the three companies indicated that deployment activities would begin shortly with the objective being to roll the solution out to a number of stores by the end of this year.
